3rd day at marriott,oct 28,2008

I got to sit down and work with colleen,she was very nice and she told me alot about her job and what she does
she told me that she takes down what personal things the guest would like in there room. she told me that if a big group of people come in one of her jobs is too block of some of the rooms so they would be reserved because most people that come in a group like to be near/close eachother when there in the the hotel.
i also seen her take a few messages down for some of the guest. one challenge colleen told me about her job was communication, she told me if the communication isn't good it's hard for her to get her job done.
i also seen the way she talks on the phone,she kinda raises her voice and makes it a little more pitch to sound polite and happy for the guest.

first day work at the marriott

my first day working at the marriott i was in the housekeeping department working with brian.
in housekeeping i was brought to the back of the house,were all the laundry is located. i got to work with the big machime that folded the towels.After i folded all the towels brian showed me how to seperate all the towels, after i seperated a crate full of towels i helped out ironing the napkins and that was my first day working at the marriott.

Last Tuesday morning I took a trip to the Marriott with my lodging management class for a presentation made in Salon D. when we walked in we sat down Jen and Mr. Olsen introduced their selves. Jen gave us our name Cards are pins and our hour work sheet.
She also gave us a sheet to fill out so she and Mr. Olsen could get to know us a little better. After we filled it out she read some out loud and had us guess who was who, then we did a bingo activity where we got to interact with the kids in our class and see some of the things they like to do. After we did our worksheets Mr. Olsen presented a slideshow for us telling us some facts and history about the Marriott. In between the presentation a person from every department came in and introduced there selves and talked about there job at the Marriott and gave us a clue of what we would be doing if we were to work with them in the Marriott which I thought was really helpful. Before we left Mr. Olsen gave us a little tour around the Marriott
