Banquets
well the last time we went to the marriott on 3-3-09 it was pretty much a transiton day for us. instead of working at the front desk,AYS,engineering and laundry we got to wor kwith kristy who works in banquets. we were able to have the chance to set up a room for a buisness that was coming in. we leatned how to take out the tables but them up and cover them with the table cloths. and we learned what clips go to which table to keep the cloths on. and we found out that the requirements to be a "platinum" or "rewards memeber" guest is based on how many times a guest stays at the marriott.

AYS. 2/3/09
this time in AYS i was working with stephanie again. for the third time she had me call hotels and get the RNA (rate and availability). she also had me page enginnering and tell them about a package that came in. How we acted in the moment to show our guest their needs will be met was that a guest called down for some toothpaste and they brought it up to him immeditely. how we use personal touch to make our guest feel welcomed and appreciated, is to ask if theres anything else they need and bring them something a little extra even though if it wasn't asked for.

housekeeping 1-6-09
I was working with brian. And he took us to go inspect the rooms that were already cleaned. he had us inspect one room. while we were inspecting we see nthat some things needed to be dusted. and the sheets on the bed weren't pulled tight enough and there was some hair found on the sheets. Then we looked in the fridge and there was a big spill of ice cream which was very disgusting. so if i was a guest assigned to that room i would have not been pleased. that day we also had to talk about invetory and some recycled goods in housekeeping were paper, and palstic waterbottles. some examples of non-recycled goods were coffee packets and photos. the inventories and par levels are important, because they got to make sure the guest are satisfied and wowed with there stay. and there inventories are maintained and supervised through the room inspections.
engineering 12/16/08
well in enginnering are mentor for the day was derrick me and sam had to clean up all the cigg buds that we have seen in the front 0f the hotel, and it was very cold outside and i was freezing.then they made us go around the whole hotel and change all the trash cans. I think enginnering is something i would not want to do in my future,i did not enjoy it.

AYS
When i was in AYS i hungout and worked with stephanie the first day that i was in AYS i had to call a bunch of hotels to get there RNA. so the marriott will know where theres open spots to send people just incase there hitel is full. my second day i got to page the bellstand and ask how long it would be until he was able to pick up someone form the airport. i also started writing peoples names on envelopes for the awards memebers so we can send them a nice letter sso they will feel welcomed but the printer had no ink so we didn't succeed.but afterall i thought working in AYS was fun and i wouldn't mind doing it again.
front desk
My expierence at the front desk was intersting, it was very busy and i got to watch them make reservations and fix peoples bills
there were a lot of buisness people there that day checkin in and out and there were these 2 ladies that were complaining about how they wanted there taxes withdrawn from their bill.
there really weren't a a alot of things i could of done at the front desk because all the work involved the computer but ive learned that while im at the front desk to always acknowledge people ans smile or the guest feel neglected.

Visit to the Atria
on november 4 are class went to visit the Atria in albany. when we arrived there we spoke to Ken Bevan and Janice Thompson. The Atria has up to 84 apartments and theres usually more men then women who have one. the Atria is a place for the elderly that need a little bit of help. some amenities that they have there are activities to stay connected and socilalized and physical therapy. The rooms at the atria are small homley and comfy. some of there service standards are healthcare and med.techs/aids. The atria is similar to the marriott because they both have stay in rooms and rely on private sources.
